The Society of Veteran Disability Examiner PAs (SOVDEPA) is a professional medical organization dedicated to advancing high-quality, Veteran-centered care through excellence in disability medical examinations.
Our Mission
We strive to expand and support the growing role of PAs in this specialized, evolving field while increasing awareness of conditions uniquely associated with military service.
Education and Advocacy
Recognized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) as a Special Interest Group in 2023, SOVDEPA offers educational resources and networking opportunities at no charge.
Amid current and projected shortages of medical disability examiners, SOVDEPA actively advocates for PAs as essential providers in ensuring timely, accurate, and compassionate evaluations for Veterans.
Toxic Exposure Awareness
SOVDEPA is committed to educating all PAs about health conditions linked to toxic exposures during military service, including those recognized under the PACT Act.
Many Veterans receive care in civilian healthcare settings and may not disclose their military service, placing them at risk for delayed or missed diagnoses.
Supporting Better Care for Veterans
SOVDEPA empowers PAs in every practice setting to provide more informed, comprehensive medical care for Veterans—improving clinical outcomes while honoring their service.
SOVDEPA is run entirely by volunteers with no budget. SOVDEPA does not accept or distribute funds.
SOVDEPA does not handle job placement, employment matters, or pay questions, and does not respond to solicitations.
